Vogue Theater, on Lexington Road, was opened in 1939 and quickly became a town favorite. With its iconic Art-Deco marquee and neon lighting, the theater became a go-to spot for movie-goers. Its single screen setup only added to the cozy, neighborhood atmosphere, hosting viewings of countless films ranging from box-office hits to cult classics.

As large multiplex cinemas popped up around Louisville, the Vogue was eventually overshadowed, closing in 1998. While the building has since been renovated with a fresh front entrance and exterior, most of the theater’s classic marquee (minus the neon lighting) was kept and cleaned up, reminding locals of fond memories watching films and experiencing the magic of the Vogue.
