La Que + Wild and Woolly Video Neighbors

Remember those days when you could pick up takeout from La Que, then wander a few steps out the front door to Wild and Woolly to grab a couple rentals movies for the night? And if you lived close, you could have dinner and a movie without even touching your car. Bardstown Road was different then. It felt alive, like every storefront had its own personality, smell, soundtrack, and of course, people. Nowadays it’s hard to find somewhere that’s actually locally owned, between all the chains and vacant spaces pricing out locals.

This illustration combines two of the most memorable spots on Bardstown Road from the 2000s-2010s.
