This building at 1025 Barret Avenue has seen many transformations, starting as an early neighborhood structure, before housing The Monkey Wrench. Known for its live music, rooftop patio, and southern-inspired food, The Monkey Wrench became a highlands staple until its closure in 2017. The venue then transformed into V-Grits, a vegan restaurant and brewery combo, which brought a fresh focus on plant-based dining to the area.

In 2020, V-Grits moved, and Awry Brewing moved in, opening in 2023. Today, Awry keeps the building's community spirit alive by hosting gatherings and events, honoring the building's long-standing role in the Highlands.
