Highland Coffee opened in 1999 and quickly became a Highlands staple, known for its locally roasted coffee, fair-trade teas, and cozy atmosphere. For 22 years, it was a go-to gathering spot for students, artists, and locals lookingh for a great cup of coffee and welcoming conversation. In 2021, after struggling through the pandemic like so many other local businesses, the owners made the tough decision to close Highland Coffee. Its shutdown marked the end of an era for the neighborhood, leaving behind plenty of good memories, smells, and a continued desire for healthy third places in the Highlands.
